De Phonic 808 is een uiterst betaalbare meerkanaals audio interface. Mogelijkheden zijn zeer uitgebreid, terwijl de 24 bit/192KHz aan de hoogste normen voldoet. Helaas zijn de drivers wat problematisch. In mijn geval was het nodig de installatieprocedure een aantal keren uit te voeren alvorens alles goed werkte.
Als alles eenmaal geïnstalleerd is, werkt de 808 prima en doet wat er beloofd werd.
Microfooningangen zijn niet super gevoelig, maar die gebruik ik eigenlijk toch niet. Voor condensatormicrofoons zijn ze wel goed te gebruiken.
Lastig is wel dat de mixer applicatie niet alle instellingen opslaat, zoat aan het begin van een nieuwe sessie wat extra handelingen nodig zijn. In principe zou het mogelijk moeten zijn twee Phonic 808's te 'daisy chainen', maar dat is me nog niet goed gelukt. Op zich verloopt de installatie goed en zijn de beide 808's vanuit de DAW software te benaderen, maar er blijven synchonisatie problemen. Wellicht moet ik hier nog eens wat verder in duiken, want de mogelijkheid bestaat dat er instellingen nog niet geoptimaliseerd zijn (master/slave clock etc.)
Over het algemeen dus een goede indruk, met wat kanttekeningen bij de software driver.
